DVD Cloner II
by (Unknown)
  8.0
Good

$59.95

Manufacturer

Internal CSS decryption and good copy quality. The trial version doesn't permit a complete backup, only 3 minutes. The user interface is a little difficult to navigate and the customer support is questionable, we were unable to get a reply to our support requests.

Setup:

The setup and installation is as straight forward. The CSS decryption is internal so no other software needs to be installed. We don't recommend software which has built in decryption since this renders the product illegal in most countries.  Other software vendors have been sued because of decrypters and no longer offer support, updates or activation.

Features:

Includes the ability to copy just the movie, or copy the movie with bonus material and menus onto a single DVD or onto your hard drive.  It can also convert your DVD material to other video formats.

Ease of Use:

The interface is somewhat less intuitive than the other software we reviewed.  Some of the buttons are not labelled which make their functionality a bit of a mystery until you try them a few times.

Video quality:

The video quality is very good. The image didn't show any signs of degradation even when compressed heavily.

Supported operating systems:

Windows XP, 2000, ME and 98.

Customer support:

Customer support appears to be poor.  We sent three emails over several days and we did not get a reply.

Pros:

Cons:

  • Easy to install
  • Good copy quality
  • Copy fits on one disc.

  • Interface isn't intuitive and many buttons are not labelled.
  • Poor customer support - our emails were never replied to.
  • Integrated decrypter

Summary

Overall, DVD Cloner II is a good solution for DVD copying provided you don't require any technical support. If you want to try one or more full copies before you purchase, you might want to try another product, since 3 minutes is insufficient to determine copy quality or overall speed.
